چکیده
Introduction DRAXXIN contains the active ingredient tulathromycin, the first of a new subclass of macrolide, the triamilides, discovered and developed by Pfizer Animal Health. DRAXXIN is a highly effective, single-dose antimicrobial medication indicated for treatment of BRD, and control of respiratory disease in cattle at high risk of developing BRD, caused by M haemolytica, P multocida and H somni (Haemophilus somnus).

Bacteriological and therapeutic studies on Mannheimia haemolytica and Pasteurella multocida in bovine respiratory disease at dairy cattle farms in Tehran
In this study, we performed a bacteriological investigation on bovine respiratory infections. Additionally, the study evaluates the efficacy of florfenicol 30 µg produced by Rooyan Darou Company (test group) as compared to a similar drug produced by Aboraihan Company (control group). Sampling was carried out on 30 calves at two farms with 30-55% incidence rate of respiratory disorders. Nasophar...
متن کاملMetaphylactic Use of DRAXXIN (tulathromycin) in Weaned Dairy Calves at High Risk for Infectious Respiratory Disease
• Metaphylactic antimicrobial treatment of weaned dairy calves immediately prior to movement from individual to group housing offers an opportunity to prevent bovine respiratory disease (BRD) in these high-risk animals. • The efficacy of DRAXXIN ® metaphylaxis in high-risk dairy calves was evaluated in 6 controlled research trials conducted in different regions of the US. • A single metaphylact...
متن کاملTulathromycin: An Overview of a New Triamilide Antimicrobial for Livestock Respiratory Disease*
83 gram-negative bacterial pathogens, resulting in increased drug potency. Tulathromycin has shown high efficacy against the common bacterial causes of respiratory disease in cattle and swine: It is rapidly released from the injection site, promoting early achievement of inhibitory concentrations in lung tissue. Furthermore, extensive tissue penetration and slow release from tissue provide exte...
متن کاملDuration of therapy with EXCEDE or Micotil® in a bovine respiratory disease challenge model
• EXCEDE (ceftiofur crystalline free acid) Sterile Suspension controlled bovine respiratory disease (BRD) for up to nine days after administration in a challenge model. • EXCEDE was superior to Micotil (tilmicosin) 300 Injection for lung lesion scores, respiratory scores, and rectal temperature. • Concentrations of ceftiofur and related metabolites were above the efficacy threshold for BRD path...
متن کاملDetection of antibody against infectious bovine rhinotracheitis glycoprotein gE in aborted cattle in Mashhad, Iran
Infectious Bovine Rhinotracheitis is a highly contagious disease caused by the bovine herpes virus-1 (BoHV-1), resulting in significant losses to livestock around the world. BoHV-1 is a major pathogen of cattle, primarily associated with respiratory/genital tract infections and abortion. In the present study, we determined the presence of antibodies in 120 serum samples of cattle with the histo...
